A Classic Surrey Wedding
Text by Little Star Events

I organised this shoot on the day of our Classic Wedding Fayre at Foxhills. I love organising shoots at the wedding fayres as it gives the suppliers exhibiting on the day another opportunity to be showcased and gives the opportunity to bring together suppliers to
create great styled shoots.

For this shoot, I wanted to go for a Classic Surrey Wedding theme in order to match the theme of the wedding fayre but also to match the grandeur of the venue. Foxhills Club & Resort is a stunning venue with beautiful grounds and really is the place for a fairytale wedding. With the start of Autumn approaching, this was a great opportunity to showcase how this venue is beautiful at any time of the year. Katlyn Sampson Photography was the perfect choice of photographer for this shoot and captures the elements of a classic wedding amazingly.
I wanted to showcase different elements of a wedding and by using the children to model, Eva Markianos and Finley Starr, I think this adds another element to the shoot. I thought it would be nice showcasing the flower girl and page boy together. Many couples who marry now have children of their own and it is fantastic way of showing how they can be involved in the celebrations and also can signify the joining of two families. Eva wears a gorgeous flower girl dress from Impressions and Finley wears a very smart three piece from Hire 5. The stunning flower posy was created by Lily & Myrtle. Katlyn and I were keen to showcase the children in the grounds of this stunning venue.
As the weather had just started to turn, we were keen to encompass some of the Autumnal feel throughout the shoot and feel this is really highlighted in the photographs of the children walking in the leaves but also with Tatiana in front of the gorgeous windows of Foxhills in an Enzoani, princess style bridal gown from Surrey Brides with the Autumnal foliage above her. Her hair and make-up, by Gemma Louise Bridal is fresh and relaxed and really accentuates her natural beauty.
I was keen to show how the classic theme is not dated and can still be contemporary and feel this is showcased in the photographs with Georgina Hartwell in that stunning Enzoani bridal gown with the thigh high split and beautiful hair and make-up which matches the style perfectly from Gemma Louise Bridal, along with Andy smouldering in a suit from Hire 5 and a stunning contemporary fan style bouquet from Lily & Myrtle including deep red
roses and gorgeous chines lanterns finished off with orange and red ribbon, really shows how elements of classic such as the S2 Bentley, Rebecca from Classic & Vintage Car Company and the beautiful Foxhills Manor House can be accompanied by contemporary twists.
Lucy Penketh shows the fun side whilst sitting in the incredibly pristine 1935 Rolls Royce Phantom 11 Continental classic car from Ultimate Classic Car Hire in an Enzoani gown supplied by Surrey Brides and a gorgeous bouquet featuring pinks from Lily & Myrtle.
Emma also wears an Enzoani bridal gown supplied by Surrey Brides and has a Game of Thrones style braided hair style from Gemma Louise Bridal. She models with Andy inside Foxhills Manor House and wears a delicate necklace from Tanya Brown, Stella & Dot. Andy wears a very sophisticated light grey suit with a detailed waistcoat with a light blue tie and handkerchief from Hire 5 which accompanies the blue in Emma’s bouquet supplied by Lily & Myrtle beautifully.

The next Little Star Events Wedding Fayre at Foxhills Club & Resort is the Valentine’s Wedding Fayre which takes place on 18th February from 11am - 3pm.

Wedding Day Moments

7/6/2017

There is so much happening on a Wedding Day!
As a photographer, I am there to capture and record the day a couple says 'I do!'
I hold this craft of documenting a wedding with great importance and with a variety of images,
portraits, moments, details, group photos, create a unique love story.
My favorite images from the day are always the 'Moments'.

A Wedding Day holds so much emotion, energy and love.
Some of the best photographs are those little unexpected moments that tell a story about the day or the couple.
In my photographic style, I look to produce images with genuine feeling and as a result, don’t like to be intrusive,
sometimes, even I like to be forgotten…to fade into the background.  Sure, there are definitely certain times during the day
when wedding guests will know who I am and what I am doing!  But mostly, to capture the essence of the day,
I’m looking, observing, waiting for those special moments that come to pass, witnessing their existence from behind my lens
and capturing them for a lifetime –to become a documented memory.

There are many types of moments, moments of quiet importance, moments of loud celebration, moments of overwhelming sentiment and love.  While looking at a photograph of a time passed, it helps your memory remember many things but mostly, how you felt.
Raw emotion, sometimes uncontrollable, feeling overjoyed, tears of happiness.
Laughter, enjoyment, excitement, anticipation, celebration and above all LOVE!

That flittering laughter with your bridesmaids as you prepare for your big day, or a moment of quiet with your mother who adjusts your veil.   A shared joke with your best man, a handshake from your new father in-law.   A moment shared with proud parents or excited siblings, a loving daughter or son.  Anticipation of waiting or walking down the aisle, the flutter of your heart beating.
A look of adoration, admiration, an embrace.
All the hopes and dreams of a new life together in celebration and support of your closest friends and family.

I feel privileged to be part of a couple’s wedding day and take pleasure in capturing precious moments
of such a happy, significant event.  Photographs hold amazing power.
In telling the story of your life, images can allow you to to relive this very special day time and time again.

I have put together a collection of images celebrating some of my favorite captured moments! I hope you enjoy the gallery!

Engagement / Pre Wedding Session

Congratulations your Engaged!!!

“I will forever be there to laugh with you,
to lift you up when you are down and to love you unconditionally
through all of our adventures in life together.”

This is such a fun time to celebrate your relationship, your love and new commitment to each other!
I love photographing Engagement Sessions- the energy, excitement and romance is on high!
Let's hang out,  do something or go somewhere you enjoy as a couple in a relaxed fun, romantic session
resulting images documenting this exciting time that you can use for your wedding invitations, wall art,
order an album or as decorations at the wedding,

This session isn’t just enjoyable, it serves as great practice pre-wedding!  Let’s face it, we all  can feel a bit intimidated by the camera.  Spending this time together helps us get to know each other and get more comfortable with each other and the camera.
Aiming to be in the moment and forget your having you picture taken results in great, beautiful, natural images.
Especially if you know you are not particularly comfortable with the camera, this is great practice before the big day!
One less stress on the wedding day…
When you relax in front of the camera it produces the best results.
Go for it!  Be yourself! Have fun with it!

See What Brides to Be had to say about their engagement shoot......

" Speechless was my first reaction when I saw your work. You are INCREDIBLY talented!
A photo is supposed to take us back to that very special moment, and you definitely know how to capture these.
It was a pleasure working with someone as professional and as committed as you are.
Your passion is definitely reflected on what you do.
Thank you so much, we will be forever grateful! "
Vanessa-Bride

“My husband and I had a brilliant engagement shoot with Katlyn last year!
Katlyn put us at ease, letting us pose naturally but directing us when needed.

Katlyn was great with including our dog in some shots and made the whole shoot so much fun and enjoyable.
The photos are fantastic - real memories to treasure forever! Thank you!”
Francesca- Bride to be

"The pictures are so great and we had a great time!
It was so natural and easy to work with you and we are so happy with the photos!
We can’t wait for the big day
and we are so lucky to have you as our wedding photographer! "

Wedding Albums - A Forever Keepsake

5/4/2017

Congratulations! Your getting Married!
You have found that one who ‘gets you’,  your other half, the one you want to grow old with,
the one you love with all your heart and more. Now it’s time to celebrate that love!

Think of all the planning and excitement that has gone into this one very special day and how much time and effort and thought you have invested in it.  The day arrives with much anticipation and you enjoy every fleeting moment, each other, the ceremony, the flowers, the people, the venue, the food, the drinks, the fun, the love.  Once it is over, you realize it went by way too fast and wish you could have slowed things down! After the guests have left, the flowers have faded and the honeymoon is over,
you find yourself longing for something to hold onto.
What remains, what do you physically have to look back on this momentous day?
What do you walk away from the wedding with that you can actually hold and pass to future generations?
A Wedding Album is the ultimate souvenir and a tangible way to hold these memories forever in a beautiful keepsake.
It  is not effected by time or technology and will be a loved addition to your bookshelf or coffee table, something to share in memoires together with family and friends, on your anniversary, when you have children, when you grow old.

There is something so romantic almost, certainly nostalgic about sitting down with an old family album and feeling emotions through the memories…remembering people and places, a big part of the path that has brought you to where you are today.
My mother also loved photography and took endless amounts of photographs of our childhood, for which I am extremely thankful. Every time I visit home, one of the things on my ‘to do list’ is spend an afternoon going through old photo albums.
Such a sentimental thing.  It is always a  meaningful, bonding experience to be reminded of time spent, of time past.
Even though I was little, I will never forget this huge cumbersome video camera she carried around everywhere! To family parties, camping trips, vacations…she loved it! As a result I was later able to witness old memories and realize new ones.  I watched myself as a toddler interact with my sisters and play with my cousins. There was an infamous hairbrush duet with my sister that my now husband has (reluctantly) seen and cannot forget with fits of laughter.  I was able to see what my mom looked like pregnant three times and my dad in those 70’s flares-priceless! Many, many family photos have been shared and movies have been watched time and time again certainly not without laughs and tears of joy and sadness. Lots of family events we would watch these old memories come alive, a version of the past creating a new experience.  To me, there is no other feeling like it, such a strong sense of family, of identity, of togetherness.  To remember and reflect on times, memories and people of the past in some cases that we could not have known or seen otherwise, things that have molded and created the future, your future.  There is something so powerful in that and sometimes I am terrified that this is, in itself, is something of the past.   It makes me sad, in this digital age, to remember that people lose out on that experience, of looking at a photo album, watching a home movie, looking at photos kept in a box- images of loved ones in the past and present and cherished photos of those no longer with us that we keep close to our hearts.  Holding, touching, smelling the photographs, like finding a long lost treasure.   An experience that a computer screen just cannot provide.
When is the last time you had a favorite photograph printed?!

An experience ….exactly how photographs are created and are meant to serve their purpose-
to be experienced. Not sitting on a hard drive somewhere acquiring digital dust.

Ever since I was young, I have loved photographs, everything about them and what they represent.  It is a big part of why I have become a photographer myself.  I love to create instant memories-capture moments and preserve them in time forever.  To have something to remember, a person, an emotion, a place, a feeling exactly how it was in that very moment, to guard it or share it and keep it forever.  Photography has always allowed me to express an idea, to understand, to explore, make connections, to be curious, to learn, to get closer, to be an artist, to be compassionate, to tell stories, to give, to create.  I love to see, to observe, document, to capture and to share with others my vision and passion for the craft.  I look to find that certain something inside, that shows identity, humanity, character, truth, unique to each and every person and situation.    Originally, I aspired to become a photo journalist, I wanted to study people, culture, society and explore, in turn giving something back to the world by telling stories that might not have been told otherwise. My life took me in another direction and when I started photographing weddings, not only did I fall for the experience and respect the privilege to contribute to the ultimate, traditional human expression of love, but I was instantly reminded of the intense personal importance of imagery to each and every person especially in the moments of life that are regarded with such significance. I was overwhelmed with the fact that I could provide someone with photographs of these memories, not just their lifetime but also for lifetimes to come.  This is why I take my job so seriously and love what I do on a deeper level.  I aim to create art in my approach to documenting a wedding day and a couple - the underlying importance of this is providing sentimental value;
I want the images to resonate with them, to mean something to not only the subject but the viewer,
today, tomorrow or one hundred years from now.

I feel privileged to tell the story of a couple and their wedding day.
The wedding albums I create are in a storybook design so you can easy relive your day over and over again -  your own personal fairytale!  Investing in a wedding album allows you to get the best out of your experience with your photographer by utilizing their strengths and talent to create something unique to you, your day and your photographs. The photographer is able capture the feeling and emotions of the day and by artful, thoughtful design, create your unique story.  The album lets the photographs shine, displayed in a professional standard, beautifully presented product.   A product and resulting experience both you and your photographer can be proud of.  After years of working with the same album company in France and now in England, I am constantly impressed by the high quality result of the product and don’t wonder why they are ranked amongst the worlds top in the industry.
I am very proud to provide this product for my clients and realizing the wedding album’s importance,
have now decided offer the albums as part of my wedding packages.

So, Let’s Review! Why is a Wedding Album Important????

Preserve memories, to share, relive and pass down to children and future generations!

Visual storytelling- Your Own Personal Fairytale, uniquely told for you and your significant other to share in your emotions and remember exactly how you felt that very important and life changing day you said ‘I do’.

High quality, only the best! I take pride in showcasing my images the way they should be presented and delivering an amazing product so you can also take pride in showing it off to your friends, family and little ones!
