You have found that one who ‘gets you’, your other half, the one you want to grow old with,
the one you love with all your heart and more. Now it’s time to celebrate that love!
Think of all the planning and excitement that has gone into this one very special day and how much time and effort and thought you have invested in it. The day arrives with much anticipation and you enjoy every fleeting moment, each other, the ceremony, the flowers, the people, the venue, the food, the drinks, the fun, the love. Once it is over, you realize it went by way too fast and wish you could have slowed things down! After the guests have left, the flowers have faded and the honeymoon is over,
you find yourself longing for something to hold onto.
What remains, what do you physically have to look back on this momentous day?
What do you walk away from the wedding with that you can actually hold and pass to future generations?
A Wedding Album is the ultimate souvenir and a tangible way to hold these memories forever in a beautiful keepsake.
It is not effected by time or technology and will be a loved addition to your bookshelf or coffee table, something to share in memoires together with family and friends, on your anniversary, when you have children, when you grow old.
There is something so romantic almost, certainly nostalgic about sitting down with an old family album and feeling emotions through the memories…remembering people and places, a big part of the path that has brought you to where you are today.
My mother also loved photography and took endless amounts of photographs of our childhood, for which I am extremely thankful. Every time I visit home, one of the things on my ‘to do list’ is spend an afternoon going through old photo albums.
Such a sentimental thing. It is always a meaningful, bonding experience to be reminded of time spent, of time past.
Even though I was little, I will never forget this huge cumbersome video camera she carried around everywhere! To family parties, camping trips, vacations…she loved it! As a result I was later able to witness old memories and realize new ones. I watched myself as a toddler interact with my sisters and play with my cousins. There was an infamous hairbrush duet with my sister that my now husband has (reluctantly) seen and cannot forget with fits of laughter. I was able to see what my mom looked like pregnant three times and my dad in those 70’s flares-priceless! Many, many family photos have been shared and movies have been watched time and time again certainly not without laughs and tears of joy and sadness. Lots of family events we would watch these old memories come alive, a version of the past creating a new experience. To me, there is no other feeling like it, such a strong sense of family, of identity, of togetherness. To remember and reflect on times, memories and people of the past in some cases that we could not have known or seen otherwise, things that have molded and created the future, your future. There is something so powerful in that and sometimes I am terrified that this is, in itself, is something of the past. It makes me sad, in this digital age, to remember that people lose out on that experience, of looking at a photo album, watching a home movie, looking at photos kept in a box- images of loved ones in the past and present and cherished photos of those no longer with us that we keep close to our hearts. Holding, touching, smelling the photographs, like finding a long lost treasure. An experience that a computer screen just cannot provide.
When is the last time you had a favorite photograph printed?!
An experience ….exactly how photographs are created and are meant to serve their purpose-
to be experienced. Not sitting on a hard drive somewhere acquiring digital dust.
Ever since I was young, I have loved photographs, everything about them and what they represent. It is a big part of why I have become a photographer myself. I love to create instant memories-capture moments and preserve them in time forever. To have something to remember, a person, an emotion, a place, a feeling exactly how it was in that very moment, to guard it or share it and keep it forever. Photography has always allowed me to express an idea, to understand, to explore, make connections, to be curious, to learn, to get closer, to be an artist, to be compassionate, to tell stories, to give, to create. I love to see, to observe, document, to capture and to share with others my vision and passion for the craft. I look to find that certain something inside, that shows identity, humanity, character, truth, unique to each and every person and situation. Originally, I aspired to become a photo journalist, I wanted to study people, culture, society and explore, in turn giving something back to the world by telling stories that might not have been told otherwise. My life took me in another direction and when I started photographing weddings, not only did I fall for the experience and respect the privilege to contribute to the ultimate, traditional human expression of love, but I was instantly reminded of the intense personal importance of imagery to each and every person especially in the moments of life that are regarded with such significance. I was overwhelmed with the fact that I could provide someone with photographs of these memories, not just their lifetime but also for lifetimes to come. This is why I take my job so seriously and love what I do on a deeper level. I aim to create art in my approach to documenting a wedding day and a couple - the underlying importance of this is providing sentimental value;
I want the images to resonate with them, to mean something to not only the subject but the viewer,
today, tomorrow or one hundred years from now.
I feel privileged to tell the story of a couple and their wedding day.
